Anyway: Grey responded to this by saying she was “joking”. To her followers on Twitter she wrote:

My H Stern comment is a joke he grew up in a black neighborhood & extremists don’t support lib. women’s rights I can make fun of myself too!

Rolling Stone’s Vanessa Grigoriadis reported a different tale, however:

There were three other people at the dinner where Grey said this, and I don’t think any of them would describe her manner as joking.

So then her Tweet on May 7th was an attempt to defuse the situation perhaps?

I think so.

But, here’s the thing: I think she should have come out swinging.

If she had picked apart his comments on the Palestinian people she would have made him look like the complete and utter racist, Zionist filth-bag that he is.

In any case Sasha Grey said a brave thing, and deep down I and many others know that she meant it…and that, at the end of the day is all that matters.
